Des Moines police identify man killed in I-235 crash Sunday night

Marvin Galdamez, a 22-year-old Des Moines resident, died at the scene according to police. No other injuries have been reported.

DES MOINES, Iowa — One person is dead following a crash on I-235 Sunday night, according to Des Moines police

Shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday, Des Moines police and fire crew responded to a collision between two vehicles at the 6.2-mile marker on eastbound I-235 near 31st St. 

Marvin Galdamez, a 22-year-old Des Moines resident, died at the scene according to police. No other injuries have been reported.

DMPD said in a release that Galdamez was driving eastbound on I-235 when he failed to yield and rear-ended a concrete mixer truck that was part of a construction crew on the interstate.

This is the 16th traffic-related fatality of 2022.
