Parts of Ingersoll Avenue still closed in Des Moines Monday night

A spokeswoman with MidAmerican Energy told Local 5 repairs will go into the evening, but the exact reopening time is unknown.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Several blocks along Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines are closed due to a ruptured gas main, according to the Des Moines Fire Department.

Contractors were doing work along the road at Ingersoll and 24th Street when they hit a gas line around 5 p.m., the department told Local 5.

According to Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department, Ingersoll Avenue from 23rd Street to 28th Street is closed for both eastbound and westbound travelers.

An update from MidAmerican Energy said one lane of the road will remain closed until repairs are completed. They said a crew is at Ingersoll and 24th.

Only one customer is affected by the outage, according to a spokeswoman with MidAmerican. Repairs will likely go into the evening, but the exact time of reopening is unknown.
