The Ankeny Community School district is mourning the loss of one of its leaders.  On Saturday morning, July 25, the district’s coordinator of communications Jarrett Peterson passed away.

In a news release, superintendent of schools Dr. Bruce Kimpston said “The Ankeny Community School District lost an outstanding member of our administrative team, and more importantly, a great person this past weekend.  I had the privilege of working closely with Jarrett during the past five years.  He created, developed and set a standard for excellence for communications in the Ankeny Community School District.”

Peterson began with the district in 2008.  He leaves behind his wife and two daughters.

Visitation for Peterson will be Wednesday, July 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope in Ankeny.  A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 30, at 10 a.m., at the same church.  The family is welcoming friends and family to share stories during the service.
