URBANDALE, Iowa - Urbandale Police will soon be fitted with body cameras, paying for them won't be a problem thanks to a generous donor.

A little-known organization has stepped up to foot most of the bill for the police department, donating the money to buy all of their cameras.

The Independent Order Of Odd Fellows Grand Lodge Of Iowa gave more than $13,000 to the police department.

The organization is one of the oldest philanthropy groups of all time, they say they choose to help buy the body cameras to help police and the entire community.

"We're going to eliminate doubt out of people's minds, or I hope it does," said Grand Master Mike Palmer. "That's our biggest goal is to eliminate doubt."

Urbandale Police say the body cameras still start being used in July. They will be activated for traffic stops, all calls to service and any other incident needed necessary.
A policy the department drafted on the body cameras says they have set up a system to prevent unauthorized deletion or editing of the video files.
