(ADEL)- An Adel bowling lane owner decided to run for state representative after meting Hillary Clinton. 23 year old Bryce Smith worked at the Adel Family Fun Center as a teenager, and bought the Alley after graduating from college. But Smith also has an interest in politics.

He was chosen to sit in on a roundtable discussion with Hillary Clinton during an Iowa campaign stop. Smith told Clinton he was interested in running for office, and she encouraged him.  He has filed the paperwork to run for Iowa House District 19 which covers most of Dallas County.

Smith is also openly gay and engaged to be married. He believes that gives him a unique viewpoint on discrimination.

But he also says his experience as a small business owner will help him work on the state budget.
