ALGONA- According to Algona Police a suspect is in custody after a threat closed the school on Wednesday.
The following statement was posted to the Algona Community School District website:
"The incident that caused school to be canceled has been thoroughly investigated by local law enforcement, and a suspect is now in police custody. The threat itself has been deemed, by law enforcement, to be non-credible and a completely isolated incident involving one individual. There has been no connection found between this incident and what is happening in other places throughout the state and nation. As a result, classes will resume tomorrow at the normal times, including any before school activities.
A reminder, should threats or other information come your way, via text, email or other social media, it is best not to respond or engage with those who send a threat. Please take a screen shot of the content and contact local law enforcement by phone at 295-3515 or via email at email@example.com."
All classes are scheduled to resume tomorrow at normal schedule.
