DES MOINES -- The State Medical Examiner's office completed the autopsy on former Hawkeye and NFL football player Tyler Sash. They list the cause and manner of death as accidental mixed drug toxicity involving methadone and hydrocodone.
The report goes on to list that a recent shoulder dislocation and a history of chronic shoulder pain were also significant conditions.
The Medical Examiner's Office also says additional studies for chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative disease of the brain found in athletes with a history of repetitive brain trauma, are pending and will be finished in approximately eight to twelve months.
Sash was found dead in his Oskaloosa home in early September. He was 27 years old.
