Central Campus invests in students with $6 million expansion

DES MOINES - The auto tech program at Central Campus has been undergoing an expansion.

It's all part of a six million dollar expansion to the welding lab, auto tech lab and auto collision.

The auto tech lab at Central Campus was in need of a makeover, and it got just that.

Before this expansion students were limited on space to work and they needed modern equipment and technology to get better hands-on experience.

Now with 18 bays, 12 customer stalls, and three new integrated labs, they get all of that.

Students now get real world, hands on learning.

And having an upgrade like this is important because it shows the students the school's are invested in them.

"They in turn give back by staying in our communities, working in our communities, going to our local community colleges and universities, and contributing back to that iowa based economy," said Central Campus Director, Aiddy Phomvisay.

The lab will be fully operational by second semester.

Central Campus is taking applications now for next school year. Students have to apply by Thanksgiving.
