WEST DES MOINES - The presidential debates so far have been filled with controversial comments and plenty of jabs at the opposing candidate. Wednesday night's moderator, Chris Wallace of Fox News, made a strong effort to keep the discussion focused on policy - and for the most part it worked.

Local 5 put a focus group together to get some opinions on the hot topics from the debate. The group consisted of Democrats supporting Hillary Clinton, Republicans supporting Donald Trump and independent voters who are still deciding what they will do on November 8th. The big issues ranged from immigration, to taxes and the economy, to the fitness to be president.

Half of the focus group plans to stay loyal to their political party on election, while others say they still want to educate themselves before they make a decision.
