DES MOINES - Communities across the metro are grieving, following the deaths of two people during two separate car crashes this weekend.

22-year-old Edwin Ramirez died Saturday evening and 43-year-old Sheila Hensley died early Sunday morning. Des Moines police say excessive speed played a role in both of the crashes, and they are continuing their investigations.
In light of these tragedies, family members and friends are coming together to remember the loved ones they lost too soon. There has been an outpouring of support on social media from family and friends of both Ramirez and Hensley.
The crash that claimed Sheila Hensley's life occurred at the 2200 Block of East 24th Street. Policy say Hensley died after her car hit a utility pole around 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning. She was the only person in the car.
Friends of Edwin Ramirez have also taken to social media, posting photos and memories. Police say Ramirez was riding his motorcycle Saturday evening near the intersection of 44th Street and Hickman Road, when he collided with an SUV.
Friends of Ramirez have been paying tribute to him with flowers and candles. A close friend, who did not want to go on camera, tells Local 5 that Ramirez had a passion for cars - and that he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
In an effort to raise money for family members during this difficult time, GoFundMe pages have been set up for both Ramirez and Hensley.
