IOWA CITY - Researchers at the University of Iowa found that drinking one or two alcoholic drinks per day was correlated with the healthiest type of aging.

The study analyzed DNA as a way to establish a biological age - rather than a chronological age - by looking closely at the make-up of internal tissue. The study also found that very low and very high levels of alcohol consumption were linked to faster aging.

Researchers who conducted the study also reported that smoking - at any level - leads to premature aging.
