AMES, Ia. - One person is in the hospital after they allegedly drove their vehicle into an Ames retention pond early Friday morning.
Ames Police officers responded to a call of a vehicle in the pond shortly after 1:00am on Friday.
Two people were in the car at the time, but they were both able to free themselves from the car.
The driver was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames for treatment, but is expected to be okay. The passenger was released on scene.
The retention pond is located at an apartment complex near Walton and Seagrave Blvd, near Ames Middle School.
The vehicle was towed out of the water after the incident. There;s no word on exactly why they steered the vehicle into the pond.
Ames Police say possible charges are pending, and that the investigation is still ongoing.
