TELL US: is the Fareway ban on smoking fair?

DES MOINES - Fareway Food Stores is implementing a tobacco and nictotine-free policy as of January 1, 2018.

The policy doesn't allow smoking or any use of any other tobacco-like products, like e-cigarettes, on company property.

"It is important to us at Fareway to create a healthy work environment for our employees and eliminating tobacco use from our campus is an integral part of that process," said Caitlyn Ferin, a member of Fareway's Corporate Wellness Team. "This is a key step in building a strong foundation for future wellness initiatives."

Fareway and the American Lung Association in Iowa are making smoking cessation materials available for all employees at their 12 locations in Polk County.

Fareway Food Stores is one of the largest employers in Iowa and operates more than 100 stores in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
