ANKENY- One food event is fighting hunger by feeding people in Iowa and around the globe.
Tonight Morsel Combat showcases some of the best chefs and resturants from Central Iowa's thriving food scene. The culinary event divided thre premiere chefs into teams to create a small plate menu item for guests to enjoy.
Local celebritiy judges voted for their favorite dishes. Guests also got to vote for what they thought was best as they wandered around the tables enjoying bite sized samples.
This evening was a great recognition for the talented chefs as well as a tasty meal for guests, but it also provided funding to battle hunger.
"We have over 300 people here tonight. So it's been a really fun event, just raises money for a good cause. We have people in our community who don't know where the next meal is coming from, so Meals from the Heartland is there emergency food relief as well as sending it to children around the world," says Susan Bunz Executive Director Meals from the Heartland
Later tonight they'll add up the judge's scores and people's choice ticket to crown a winner. All proceeds go to the West Des Moines based non-profit that feeds the hungry.
