DES MOINES - Around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, neighbors say they heard a loud bang, near the Martin Luther King overpass. Fire crews rushed to the scene.

Officials say they had to cut open the car to rescue the three passengers. They were all taken to the hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries, a surprise for those who witnessed the crash.

"All I saw was two cars sitting on the side of the ramp, didn't notice the one on the side of the ramp at the time, but it didn't sound like a car hitting another car," said Jason Lillethun, a neighbor.

None of the names of the people in the car are being released at this time.  The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Des Moines Police Department.
