Man arrested in Appanoose Co. murder

APPANOOSE COUNTY - A man has been arrested and charged with murdering a Cedar Falls hunter.

State investigators held a press conference on Wednesday morning, and announced after two weeks of investigating, they've arrested Ethan Landon Davis. He was taken into custody Wednesday morning. He's charged with murdering Curtis Ross. Ross was in Appanoose County for a hunting trip.

Forensic information and evidence tied Davis to the murder, and there was blood found on his car, said investigators. He's from Promise City. He was in jail for another charge when he was arrested for this murder.

The Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide. Curtis Ross was shot and stabbed to death several times, according to the report.

Investigators searched over 800 acres for days. They believe this is an isolated incident, and they are not saying the nature of relationship between Ross and Davis. They have not said if there was a relationship at all.
