DES MOINES- McCombs Middle School in Des Moines is November's One Classroom at a Time Grant winner. This grant, sponsored by Local 5 and Bankers Trust, gives a thousand dollars to a teacher working on a special project. McCombs teacher Ann Echelmeyer will use the money to support the STEM based FIRST LEGO League Robotics Club.

The club meets after school, and the student get to build robots out of Legos. Those robots then need to be able to complete specific tasks and follow a map. The kids use engineering and computer programming to make their creations. They plan to attend several competitions and camps, and they needed this extra money to cover travel expenses.
