Iowa is one of ten states without an energy plan, but that's about to change.
Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds announced the start of a new effort to create the state's first ever comprehensive energy plan. So what is that exactly? Experts and the public will weigh in with ideas to help the state provide sustainable low cost energy while creating new jobs.
Iowa's production of wind energy, for example, is a main reason companies have located here.  Reynolds says, "Because of our ability to  lead in wind, it's why Facebook, Google, and Microsoft are in our state. They wanted renewable energy as part of their portfolio and we were able to deliver on that."
The goal is to have the Iowa's new energy plan finished by December of 2016.
