DES MOINES - Dozens of trays of absentee ballots were mailed out on Wednesday from Polk County officials in anticipation of early voting.

County officials said they sent out just under 20,000 ballots to those that put in a request for one.

Thursday is the first day of in-person voting at auditor offices around the state. The Polk County Auditor's office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for early voting.
