Raising awareness for congenital heart defects

DES MOINES - They're considered heroes on the big screen and in real life, they're making an impact as well.Saturday a large group of superheroes popped up at Raccoon River Park for the 3rd annual Superhero Heart Run. It's a family friendly event, with both 5k and 2K run options.
" All of these CHD kids are absolute warriors and they continue to fight it's not anything that's ever cured so it's something they will deal with their wholes lives so to have a special event where they feel like a superhero is super fun for them and just exciting," said Emily Graber.
Proceeds raised from this event will be utilized to provide support, education, research and create awareness for congenital heart defects.
