Thanksgiving is only one day away and the weather is going to make travel difficult for anyone waiting until Thursday to get on the road. Rain falling overnight will turn into freezing rain and eventually snow in west and northwest Iowa. While the metro will primarily see rain during the day Thursday temperatures will fall enough during the evening that we will also see freezing rain make roads slick.

Ice totals from freezing  rain could add up to a tenth or two mainly in west and northwest Iowa, so roads will definitely be slick especially in the afternoon. Snow totals in northwest Iowa will likely stay between 1 to 2 inches, but a few spots near Storm Lake may be able to grab around 3 inches.
