DES MOINES - The city of Des Moines has seen nine homicides so far this year, and three of those remain unsolved.

On Wednesday, the Des Moines police department issued an advisory for the public's help in solving these cases.

The first case deals with a shooting on May 26th. It happened a little before 11 p.m. in the 4000 block of Crocker Avenue. Scott Allan Perez was shot and killed as he walked around the area. Police said witness statements, and surveillance video in the area, indicate that a silver or gray-colored, late 1990’s Chevrolet Lumina was seen in the area at the time of the homicide. This was the second tragedy to hit the Perez family in a six month period. Mr. Perez lost his daughter, Scalicity Perez, in a November 2015 car accident.

The second case that remains unsolved happened almost a month later, on June 22nd. Victor Robinson Jr. was shot and killed in the parking lot of 3720 MLK Jr. Parkway around 2 a.m. Over 50 people have been interviewed, but police are not receiving any cooperation.

The third case police are asking for help in happened on July 24th around 4:30 a.m. Dennis Strable was shot and killed at the intersection of 45th and Kingman Blvd. as he was riding his bike. Evidence was recovered at the scene, including surveillance video of a car in the area.

Reward funds are available for information leading to an arrest in each of these cases. Anyone with information regarding these crimes is asked to contact the Des Moines Police Department at 515-283-4811, or Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa at 515-223-1400.
