DES MOINES -- One man is in custody after investigators said he hit two men with his truck at the Highland Park Little League.

On Sunday, September 18th, 2016, just before 9:00 a.m. Polk County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call at 4700 NW Morningstar Drive about an accident involving a truck that had collided with a concession stand.   Deputies said the truck hit two men before colliding into the concession stand.

The driver of the truck was seen walking in the middle of Morningstar Drive away from the scene.  When deputies approached the suspect, they said he began fighting with officers.  With the assistance of the Iowa State Patrol and the Des Moines Police Department, deputies were able to take the man into custody.  The driver was transported to a hospital to be examined. One victim was treated and released at the scene, while the other victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are currently investigating this incident.  Due to the continuing investigation, no further details are available at this time.
