NEWTON - A businessman in Newton is grateful for Donald Trump's business.
Dave McNeer owns Maxim Advertising and like many businesses in Newton, it was tough for them to stay afloat after Maytag shut down. Maytag was their largest client.
After McNeer's business was featured on an episode of CBS' 60 Minutes in 2010, Donald Trump reached out to him and said if he ever ran for president McNeer's company could make his campaign materials.
Trump stayed true to his word, five years later Maxim Advertising makes all of Trumps campaign signs, tshirts, and buttons for Iowa.
McNeer wouldn't say exactly, but says it's mean six figures worth of new business which as been great, "So many people saw that 60 minutes piece and no politician reached out to us. Mr. Trump doesn't know me, and offered to help in certain ways."
McNeer says one of the best parts about being in charge of making Trump's campaign materials is that it all has to be made in America, because that's what Mr. Trump wants.
