Man may have information about Thursday morning stabbing

DES MOINES - A woman is in critical condition Thursday after being stabbed and jumping off a second-story deck of an apartment building. 

Shortly after 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning, Des Moines Police Department patrol officers and Des Moines Fire Department rescue personnel responded to 3303 SE 22nd Street to investigate a report of a stabbing.

Upon their arrival, officers found 55-year-old Des Moines resident Donna Williams at a first-floor apartment. Williams was seriously injured, suffering from multiple stab wounds.  Medics transported her to a local hospital where she is listed in critical, but stable condition.

During the investigation, officers learned that Williams had been attacked and stabbed in a second-floor apartment, and had jumped to safety from a balcony.

No arrests have been made in this investigation.

Des Moines Police Department detectives have identified a person that they would like to speak to regarding this investigation.  Detectives believe that 46-year-old Cortez West may have information that will assist detectives with better understanding this incident.
