Woman speaks out about managed care mess

Home care services cut by 75%

It was a budget hearing, where Dir. Jerry Foxhoven said how much money the department needs.
He painted a very positive picture of how well health care is working in the state for the 600-thousand Iowans who are on the new managed care system.
Local 5 played his speech for a quadriplegic woman who has lost 75 percent of her home care since the state switched from medicaid to managed care.
Her view on the current system isn't quite as positive.

Ruth Evans said In order for her to get the in home care she needs, she has had to find ways to pay out of pocket for the care she needs, borrow money, or have friends and family help her out.
She's frustrated all of this has happened, yet continues to be hopeful that it can all be resolved in the near future.
