DES MOINES -- Protesters argued on the streets of Des Moines today. You may have seen the hashtag "women betrayed." It has to do with allegations that Planned Parenthood sells fetal body parts after abortions.
Several dozen pro-lifers gathered outside Planned Parenthood on east Army Post Road. Across the street, some pro-Planned Parenthood folks. This debate came to light after an undercover video surfaced. Planned Parenthood says no body parts are sold, but they are donated for scientific research.
But protestors still want Planned Parenthood penalized. "By showing pregnant women that we care, that we'll help them and resources to choose life, we can stop the abortion giant from killing so many of our generation," said Mallorie Goodale, a pro-life demonstrator.
These "women betrayed" rallies are happening all across the country, as part of a call to investigate and de-fund Planned Parenthood. Also involved in this effort is one presidential candidate. Senator Rand Paul says he'll de-fund Planned Parenthood by any means necessary. He even introduced a de-funding amendment to a pending highway bill, which was blocked. Then he introduced it as stand-alone legislation. Rand Paul is one of the 16 officially declared Republican candidates.
