DES MOINES - The Animal Rescue League of Iowa will be celebrating National Help A Horse Day on April 22 and competing for a chance to win up to $10,000 in grant prizes to assist with their efforts to rescue and rehome horses.
The ARL will be hosting a family friendly event to share about the work of the ARL’s Kruidenier Second Chance Ranch, and are dedicating the day to rescue horses and local heroes.
Help A Horse Day is on April 22 from 1-3:30 p.m. at ARL Main (5452 NE 22nd Street, Des Moines) in the Kruidenier Second Chance Arena and barn.
The event will begin with a flag presentation by a local veterans group, a drill team performance, a horse demonstration, and there will be activities for children such as horse lassoing, a chance to groom a horse, and horse coloring activities.
Attendees will be able to tour the facilities and meet adoptable horses and the 14 horses that were recently rescued, local heroes, and ARL volunteers!
This event is for all ages and is free to attend.
