Today is World Pancreatic Cancer Day! Governor Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation stating just that. November is also Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.
And today, a volunteer from the metro Pancreatic Cancer Action Network came on the Midday show to talk about some fun events they have going on to bring that awareness.
Volunteers in central Iowa are decorating trees purple for festivals. The Des Moines Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has a tree in Ames at the Octagon Festival of Trees, which runs through Nov. 26, and will have one in the Des Moines Festival of Trees and Lights, which runs Nov. 22 through Nov. 26.
Volunteers are meeting for a World Pancreatic Cancer Day potluck at the West Des Moines Public Library Community Room, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Meet & Greet and food setup beginning at 6 p.m., then target eating around 6:30 p.m.
