MUSCATINE...DAVENPORT...BETTENDORF...MOLINE...ROCK ISLAND...ALEDO 1258 AM CDT FRI JUL 22 2016 ...AREAS OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL CONTINUE TO MOVE SOUTH ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH 230 AM CDT... THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AND MOVE RATHER SLOWLY SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE AREA WITH HEAVY RAINFALL RATES OVER 1 INCH AN HOUR THROUGH 2 AM CDT. THEY WILL START TO DIMINISH FROM NORTH TO SOUTH BETWEEN 2 AND 3 AM CDT. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO OVER 2 INCHES APPEARS LIKELY IN THESE AREAS...WITH AREAS OVER 3 INCHES POSSIBLE. THE HARDEST HIT AREAS WILL BE FROM JUST SOUTHEAST OF CEDAR RAPIDS...TO TIPTON IN JONES COUNTY IOWA...AND PORTIONS OF WESTERN MUSCATINE COUNTY. UP TO ANOTHER HALF INCH TO AN INCH OF ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE THOUGH 230 AM CDT. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...AND PONDING OF WATER ON COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS. EXPECT SOME PONDING WATER ON URBAN STREETS AND HIGHWAYS AS WELL...AND MINOR FLOODING FROM RAIN FILLED DITCHES. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROAD. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. $$
