CLIVE, Iowa — Small businesses everywhere have closed because of the pandemic, but one is thriving.
Mobile Spot, a tech repair shop in Clive, has repaired an extra 3,000 devices for people trying to stay connected while stuck at home.
“We had a lot of customers coming in here," owner Jacob Mead said. "Whether it was to fix their iPads for their children because they had to do virtual classes or if it was for themselves because they’ve had to do work at home.”
Most of the new sales came from students preparing to learn virtually, and the staff at Mobile Spot increased repair times to keep up with the demand.
“They need their devices quicker than ever," Mead explained. "So, we’ve really had to adapt to that."
With virtual learning and Zoom meetings seemingly here to stay, the shop doesn't expect business to slow down anytime soon.
