Creston man charged with first-degree murder in Madison County shooting

41-year-old Gerald Parker has been arrested and charged with 1st degree murder, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

MADISON COUNTY, Iowa — The Madison County Sheriff's Office has arrested 41-year-old Gerald Parker of Creston in the shooting death of 39-year-old Jonathan Michael Hoffman of Des Moines.

Deputies said Hoffman's body was located at the intersection of Macksburg Road and Grandview Lane near Monroe around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He was found laying in the roadway, unresponsive. According to the sheriff's office, Hoffman was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Madison County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.

Parker is charged with 1st degree murder and is being held in the Madison County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
