DES MOINES – Many metro families have been prepping their homes for Halloween night.

A dozen families have their homes decorated for the 8th annual “Halloween on the Hill.”

Not only do you get to come out to Sherman Hill and see all the spooky homes, but you will also be helping out the DMARC  food pantry.

They are asking that you donate non-perishable foods to Hoyt Sherman Place before checking out the homes.

And the families go all out for this, even having a little friendly competition.

“It’s a good competition. We threw up a 24 foot pirate ship in our yard this weekend and now the neighbor down the block said, ‘I need to take the day off and step up my game,’ and he’s going to go all out too, so it’s good like that,” said Sherman Hill Association Board Member, Ryan Howell.

You can check out the homes Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

You might even see a few scary characters roaming the streets.
