AMES – A vigil to remember Celia Barquin Arozamena was held Wednesday night on the north side of the Campanile on Iowa State’s campus. Hundreds of friends, students, athletes and others gathered in reflection.
“She just really had this personality that I think drew you in, because she could make fun of herself,” said John Walters, Voice of the Cyclones. “She could laugh at herself. She had a tremendous sense of humor and she was a neat person.”
Candles in hand, attendees embraced one another. A slideshow played displaying fond memories of Celia and her time at ISU. Close friends and fellow students shared memories of Celia, and many wrote messages to Celia’s family in Spain.
If you would like to help Celia’s family you can do so. The women’s golf team has set up the “Remember Celia Memorial Fund.” All of the money will go to her family. If you would like to donate, stop by the First National Bank on Fifth Street in Ames.
