DES MOINES – Former Iowa Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Agriculture held off three Democratic primary challengers and will now face Iowa’s senior Republican in November.

Patty Judge, of Albia, won the United States Senate Democratic Primary Tuesday. State Senator Rob Hogg finished the primary in second place with Tom Fiegen and Bob Krause finishing a distant third and fourth, respectively.

Judge served as Iowa’s Secretary of Agriculture from 1999 to 2007 under Governor Vilsack and was Lieutenant Governor from 2007-2011 under Governor Culver. Judge previously served in the Iowa Senate.

Judge will now face six-term Senator Chuck Grassley in the November general election.
