DES MOINES — Local 5 is on your side as the Des Moines metro is set to receive 3-5″ of snow, with higher amounts in other parts of the state.

Numerous cities are issuing snow ordinances and closing schools ahead of Friday’s snowstorm. Stay with Local 5 on-air and online through the free We Are Iowa app for the latest updates.

ADEL

Adel’s snow emergency parking ban will be in effect Friday at 8 a.m. through Saturday at 5 p.m.

ANKENY

The City of Ankeny has declared a snow ordinance effective Friday at noon until Saturday at 6 p.m.

  • No parking allowed on all public streets, alleys and on-street parking within the city when the snow ordinance is in effect. 
  • No parking is allowed until the snow ordinance is officially lifted by the City. 
  • Parking in The District at Prairie Trail and Uptown Business District is prohibited from 2 – 6 a.m.
  • Vehicles parked on the street during a snow ordinance will be ticketed $40 and may be towed.

AMES

Due to the amount of snow forecast in the area, the City of Ames Snow Ordinance will go into effect at noon Friday.

BONDURANT

The City of Bondurant’s Snow ordinance will go into effect at 7 a.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday.

BOONE

Snow ordinance in effect Friday at 9 p.m. for residential, 11 p.m. for business district (ticket and tow).

CARLISLE

Carlise’s snow ordinance is in effect starting at 6 a.m. Friday. They say the ban will remain in effect for 24 hours until snowfall has stopped.

CLIVE

The Citiy of Clive has put its snow ordinance into effect.

Residents are asked to move their parked vehicles from city streets in order to help crews perform their plowing duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Snow Ordinance for snow routes in effect starting at 7 a.m. Friday.

Park cars on the EVEN side of the street www.dmsnow.org for updates Saturday.

GRIMES

Snow Ordinance will go into effect Friday at 9 a.m. through Saturday at 6 p.m.

INDIANOLA

Snow ordinance is in effect beginning Friday at 6 a.m.

City leaders said the snow ordinance will be effect for the duration of the storm and for 48 hours past the end of the storm.

JOHNSTON

A snow emergency parking ban will begin at 8:00 a.m. Friday and continue until 5 p.m. Saturday. Leaders say there is no parking on any streets in Johnston during a snow event.

NORWALK

Snow ordinance in effect starting at 8 a.m. Friday and will remain in place until further notice.

OSCEOLA

Snow ordinance in effect noon Friday until 9 a.m. Sunday, unless cancelled earlier.

Parking is prohibited on city streets and city-owned alleyways or parking lots.

Vehicles in violation of the ordinance are subject to citation and/or being towed.

WEST DES MOINES

An emergency parking ban will go into effect at 8 a.m. Friday and remain in effect until 5 p.m. Saturday.
