DES MOINES – With the recent water rescue and drownings around central Iowa this past weekend, Local 5 On Your Side is aiming to inform you about how to stay safe near the water.
There are dozens of CPR training classes around the metro. Local 5 has condensed them into the list below:
1. The American Red Cross
There are several types of first aid classes available, including Family First Aid, Adult CPR, and Advanced Child Care Training. For more information, use this link.
2. West Des Moines Community CPR Program
There is a Heartsaver and a Basic Life Support course available through the city of West Des Moines. You can take the first part of the course online. Sign up is here.
3. UnityPoint Health
Classes for CPR and First Aid are offered at the Des Moines Community Training Center. There are nearly a dozen different courses available. Sign up is here.
4. Mercy College
Residents in the central Iowa area can sign up for a CPR training class through Mercy College. It’s offered through the American Heart Association. More information can be found here.
5. DMACC
The community college offers CPR certification at its campuses. Certain restrictions for students may apply. More information is found here.
