MARSHALLTOWN – Two teens are accused of setting a garage on fire Tuesday night, and their arrests are thanks to quick thinking from a passerby.
Marshalltown officials said they got a call around 7 p.m. to a grass fire in the 200 block of W. State Street. When they got there, a bystander pointed out the fire, which was behind 107 W. State Street. The person told police and fire crews that two young boys were seen running from the area. The two boys were eventually arrested. They are 14 and 13 years old, and face charges of reckless use of fire and criminal mischief. Both admitted to setting the structure on fire.
Little damage was done, about $500 worth. No one was hurt.
