DES MOINES- Local 5 and Bankers Trust congratulate Des Moines East High School social studies teacher Lynn Hoff for winning the One Classroom at a Time educational grant for January. She will use the $1000 for a photo project where kids take home a camera and take pictures that represent their culture.
The class will also work with local Non-Profit CultureAll to help the students tell the stories about their culture and traditions. Eventually, the photos will be printed off and displayed, and the students will present their final work. Hoff says this will give students a new appreciation about what makes them unique, and will also help them learn empathy and tolerance.
