A former office worker at a Des Moines elementary school has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation.
49-year-old Thatcher Williams is facing five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor — promote film after allegedly uploading multiple files of child pornography to his Tumbler account.
“The defendant did admit it was his Tumblr account and that no one else had access to his account,“ according to a criminal complaint.
Des Moines Public Schools tells Local 5 that Williams was hired by the district in January 2016 as a substitute associate and began a job in the Central Campus office the next month.
Williams then moved to Monroe Elementary School in January 2017, and worked there as an office manager until being placed on leave in early January 2019. The district says Williams resigned Monday after learning charges would be filed.
Williams is being held at the Polk County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
