Man with outstanding arrest warrants flees police

FORT DODGE – Aaron Berger, 40, is in custody tonight after fleeing police and crashing into another vehicle.

On Tuesday afternoon at about 4:52 p.m., officers at the Fort Dodge Police Department were dispatched to 826 S. 20th St, to investigate a possible theft. The caller advised that an individual was loading items into a back of a small pickup.

When officers arrived on the scene, they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was believed to be associated with the alleged theft. The driver was Berger, and he had outstanding arrest warrants for Violation of Parole.

Officers approached Berger to take him into custody when he then sped away. As Berger was fleeing he ran a stop sign and collided with a vehicle. After the collision with the vehicle, Berger hit a tree and disabled his truck. Berger was then taken into custody and no injuries were reported.

Berger was arrested on his outstanding Violation of Parole warrants and is also facing numerous traffic offenses. He is currently being held in the Webster County Jail.
