Nobody matched all six numbers in the Mega Millions lottery drawing Tuesday night, swelling the jackpot to a new record.
As of Wednesday, the estimated jackpot is $868 million. The previous record was $656 million set in 2012.
The next drawing is Friday evening. Players have a 1 in 24 chance of winning a smaller prize with each $2 ticket purchased, according to statistics released by the Iowa Lottery.
The Mega Millions game is played in 44 states.
