Packing plant outbreaks continue to impact meat supply

One Tyson executive says the meat supply itself is safe, but consumers may have to be flexible for a while.

Meat packing plants across Iowa and the Midwest are still not operating at full capacity due to coronavirus outbreaks.

Hundreds of employees at Tyson Foods packing plants have been infected.  Several have died.

So is the meat supply safe? One Tyson executive says yes, but asks that people be flexible for a while.

"Because of the disruption in the supply chain all together, there could be situations that consumers might not find the cut of meat that they prefer," Tyson Senior Vice President Hector Gonzalez said. "But It's not a bad time to maybe try a different product or experiment with a different cut of meat."
