DES MOINES – There’s two spots open on the Des Moines School Board, and three people are fighting for them.
Tonight they took questions from board members in an open session. Local 5 talked to one candidate who’s hoping to make a difference.
“I’m a teacher and so my life’s work is surrounded around kids and serving on the school board is just one more way that I get to impact students lives. I know that education is the silver bullet that can make a difference it can help our students rise above poverty,” said Krystin Delagardelle Shelley, candidate for the school board.
Several more events like this will happen leading up to the school board election. Votes can be casted on September 12.
