High Trestle Trail Ankeny detour will be in place for 4 weeks

The detour takes riders east onto SW Maple Street over to the sidewalk on SW Cherry Street and westbound onto W 1st Street before reconnecting with the trail.

ANKENY, Iowa — A temporary detour starts on Thursday for the High Trestle Trail in Ankeny.

The detour takes riders east onto SW Maple Street over to the sidewalk on SW Cherry Street and westbound onto W 1st Street before reconnecting with the trail.

This is all part of the W 1st Street widening and improvements project in Ankeny.

"The High Trestle Trail is not just a local draw for people in central Iowa, but it's a regional draw. We have data that shows that people come from all over the country to visit the high trestle bridge, a lot of those people come through Ankeny," said Derek Lord with the City of Ankeny. "So these investments are meant to enhance the trail experience for residents as well as enhance that experience for people that make the drive to come to Anthony to visit and see what the high trestle trail is all about."

The detour will be in place for about four weeks.
