Bondurant sets up radar feedback signs to reduce speeding

The City hopes to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding by placing signs that show how fast drivers are going.

BONDURANT, Iowa — A new program to help reduce a growing concern of excessive speeding in Bondurant is now in place.

The City set up radar feedback signs across the town to provide visual feedback to motorists as well as collect data on traffic counts and speed data.

"The reason that we're doing this is just to raise awareness for motorists as they're traveling through the community and try to make things safer," said Public Works Director John Horton. "These signs will also give us the ability to collect data on traffic counts and things of that nature to be able to better come up with traffic calming solutions in the future."

The signs won't be on every street, but officials say they do plan to move them around to collect as much data as possible. They're also asking the public to do their part to ensure safety while on the roads.
