Police release identity of 19-year-old killed in crash Tuesday night

Police believe excessive speed and failure to maintain control of the vehicle likely contributed to the crash.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A 19-year-old is dead after a car crashed into a tree in Des Moines Tuesday night, according to police

Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash in the 1400 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Upon arrival, a patrol officer found Des Moines resident Dylan Ledezma unresponsive after crashing a car into a tree.

The officer initiated CPR and continued until medics arrived and began further life-saving efforts.
