2 dead following head-on collision in Story County Thursday afternoon

A pick-up truck was driving the wrong way in the eastbound lane of Highway 30, where it collided with a utility van.

Two men are dead following a head-on collision near Nevada Thursday afternoon, the Story County Sheriff's Office says.

Officials responded to the crash in the eastbound lanes of Highway 30, about one-quarter mile east of 248th Street, at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday. 

According to the sheriff's office, 70-year-old Louis Richard Walter of Nevada, was driving his pick-up truck the wrong way in the eastbound lane of Highway 30. 

Walter's vehicle collided head-on with a van driven by 43-year-old Trevor Dusin Sirdoreus of Marshalltown. 

Both men were declared dead at the scene.
