Interstate 35 closures in Warren County starting May 17

The Iowa Department of Transportation says nighttime construction to remove the Fillmore Street Bridge over I-35 will require closing north- and southbound I-35.

NORWALK, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation announced north- and southbound Interstate 35 lanes in Warren County will be closed overnight for a few days starting May 17 for some much-needed construction.

Nighttime construction to remove the Fillmore Street Bridge over I-35 will require closing north- and southbound lanes for up to two nights each direction from the junction with Iowa 92 (exit 56) to the junction with Iowa 5 (exit 68).

The lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly from May 17 through May 20, weather permitting.

Traffic will be guided around the work zone by digital message boards and a marked detour using Iowa 5, Iowa 28 and Iowa 92.

The Iowa DOT wants to remind drivers in the area to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines are at least double in work zones.
