GRIMES, Iowa — One person was killed Friday in a car vs. semi crash along Hwy 141 just off the Urban Loop flyover ramp, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Her name was Lily Macke, a 20-year-old woman from Grimes.
Deputies responded to the scene at 4100 block of SE Grimes Boulevard around 10:30 a.m. Friday.
"Preliminary investigation shows a bronze 2006 Nissan Sentra was southbound on Hwy 141 before crossing the median and being struck by a northbound semi," the sheriff's office said in a release.
Macke, the driver of the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi was uninjured. The crash is still under investigation.
